Home to Cal Poly's Intramural Sports
Intramural sports or “IM sports” are an integral part of a large portion of the student body at Cal Poly. IM sports give students an opportunity to compete in activities they love. They provide an opportunity for many student-athletes who competed at the high school and/or private level and otherwise would not have the access to competition. Sports can be as competitive and serious, or as fun and care free as desired. Intramurals provide an opportunity to meet other students and establish friendships based on common interests. Co-ed intramurals are another way to meet and befriend students of the opposite sex. IFC sports are competitive sports amongst the Greek student body; fraternity against fraternity and sorority against sorority. Regardless of the form of intramurals, a community feeling is established through these organized athletics. The sports with which intramurals are run are softball, football, soccer, basketball, and tennis. Each team has one game per week, with a single elimination playoff at the end of the season for those teams with qualifying records. The cost of intramurals is very low ranging from 10 to 30 dollars per season. The costs cover the referee fees, and the costs for use of the facilities.
