Rainfall
Seasons Change

San Luis Obispo gets an avearge of 22.6 inches of rainfall a year. At the Cal Poly campus we see the same results. During the spring season the rainfall is not as heavy, however we still have our rainy days. From April to June the average amount of rainfall slowly decreases as we approach the summer months.

The following journal entry is a brief account of a rainy day at Cal Poly

April 6, 2005

As I stepped outside my house this morning I was greeted once again by a dreary day. When is this weather going to stop?! I know I should be thankful for this rain because this is why we live in such a beautiful green landscape…but isn’t it supposed to be spring already? So I turn around and step back inside the house to put on some galoshes and grab an umbrella before I make my way to the bus. Throughout the day it stays pretty rainy and sad looking. But it’s the weirdest thing; every time you go inside a building you warm up a little too quickly and start sweating. I guess this is what happens when you live in a moderate climate…the rain can make you sweat!

According to SLO Weather the average rainfall in San Luis Obispo from April to June is as follows.

April
May
June
1.9
0.4
