Robin Baggett

Played at Cal Poly from

1968 -1971

In 2001 Cal Poly opened Baggett Stadium in honor of Robin Baggett's service to the university and recognition of his baseball career as one of the best catchers in the Cal Poly Mustang history. A two-time All-Conference and Most Valuable Player, Robin played on one of Cal Poly's best teams, holding a school record .780 winning percentage. Mr. Baggett did not allow a single passed ball during his career, had a fielding percentage of .990 after committing just one error as a senior and threw out over 70% of opponents attempting to steal. Evidence of his leadership abilities on the field was that his pitching staff holds several school records, including lowest ERA (1.98) and most shutouts (12) in a season. Robin was elected Student Body President as a senior. Following graduation with honors in business, he chose the field of law for his career. He attended Hastings College of the Law at University of California. At Hastings Robin was an editor of the Law Review and graduated in the top 2% of his class. He clerked for the California Supreme Court and the United States District Court in San Francisco. Since 1981, Robin has been a partner in the San Luis Obispo law firm of Sinsheimer, Schiebelhut & Baggett. He was also General Counsel to the NBA's Golden State Warriors for eight years. Robin owns property throughout San Luis Obispo County including vineyards such as, Tolosa Winery, Courtside Cellars, and Edna Ranch Vineyards. He currently lives nearby on his Edna Valley cattle ranch with his two children Kelly and Scott, and his wife of more than thirty years, Barbara.
