Physical Description: Size: 45-65 cm, Wing span: 114-133 cm, distincly red tail, dark shoulders and dark head on adult. Not sexually dimorphic.

Habitat: Resident individuals can be observed yearround. Migratory individuals will breed in norther North America.

Diet: Feeds primarilly on small vertebrates. Will also feed on reptiles, and birds.
