Physical Description: Size: 13 cm, brown back, pale breast and belly. Distinct white supercilliary line. Short fan shaped tail with outermost retricies barred black and white. No sexual dimorphism.

Habitat: Found often in scrub brush, such as the coastal scrub of Poly Canyon. Most individuals in California are residential. Breeds along Pacific Coast from British Colombia to Baja. Northern populations will move further south for the winter.

Diet: Feeds primarily on insects found in small crevices.
