Michael Silverman, a former Cal Poly student photogaphed a Bald Eagle outside the Parker Barn. This is a rare and unique siting.

Physical Description: Size: 76-79 cm Wingspan: 180-230cm. Black plumage with white head and retricies. Feet and bill are bright yellow. Bill is heavy and decurved.

Habitat: Lakes, rivers, marshes, and coastlines. Breeds in northern Canada and Alaska. Winters across the U.S.

Diet: Primarily they feed on fish. Fish are caught while in flight, and the eagle does not enter the water. Will also feed on small rodents and other available prey.
