In this site, we hope to expose information about Cal Poly's Equine Center and the assortment of opportunities it offers. The Equine Center provides a location for courses, internships, enterprises, and clubs to give students an opportunity to work in the equine industry.

The Equine Program began in the early 1900s. It was a simple program of breeding and training. The horses were raised to be strong so they could be used to power farm machinery within the fields of Cal Poly. When tractors became more prevelant in the farming world, ultimately replacing horses, Cal Poly lessened the rigorous training which was previously needed.

In the past century, the Equine Center has evolved to become a more intricate and efficient facility. Great programs can come from the most simple beginnings and Cal Poly's Equine Center is a prime example of this.

The first donated horses to the Cal Poly Equine Center in the early 1900s.

In the following pages, you will find information about the Equine Center location and facilities. Some of the activities available from the Equine Center include a variety of clubs, enterprises and student uses.
