Equine Science Minor

 

The Equine Science minor has been designed through the Animal Science Department for students interested in developing knowledge and competency within this field. Through this minor, students have the chance to be exposed to various tangents of the horse industry, including equine training, reproduction, husbandry, and the basics of farm management. All together students can walk away from this minor with the knowledge and the skills necessary to succeed in the equine industry.

All students enrolled at Cal Poly may apply for this minor. If interested in applying you can apply at the Animal Science Department Office located in the Erhart Ag Building (10), room 141 or you can contact the department by phone at (805)756-2419.

Courses Offered:

In order to graduate with a minor in Equine Science, one must complete the following eight courses:

ASCI 224: Equine Science (4 units)

ASCI 315: Equine Biomechanics (4 units)

ASCI 324: Advance Equine Evaluation (4 units)

ASCI 333: Equine Reproduction (5 units)

ASCI 344: Equine and Human Communication (3 units)

ASCI 345: Equine Behavior Modification (5 units)

ASCI 346: Equine Nutrition (3 units)

ASCI 347: Equine Exercise Physiology (3 units)
