Living Quarters

There are two living units included at the Equine Center. One is located in the breeding shed and has a kitchen. The other room is located at the end of the mare barn. Each room has capacity for two people and has a bathroom.

During the Spring Quarter, applications are accepted for four student residents. The residents are paid hourly by the Cal Poly Foundation as caretakers of the facility and horses. This position is a year commitment and requires a minimal monthly rent for room and board at the Equine Center.

Each day the students are responsible for feeding all the horses, maintenance and cleaning of the entire facility, tractor work, and treating injured horses. The students also need to assist foaling, set up and monitor irrigation, and supervise horse unit volunteers.
