Landscape @ Cal Poly

Changes in Poly Canyon

* Some of the noticeable changes that have happened in this are of campus are is the grasses. Back in April, when this area was receiving lots of rain, the grasses were a vivid green throughout the side of the hill. In May, with the temperature rising, and the sun shining more so then it did in April, the green quickly began to fade away into the golden brown that is found currently.

APRIL 5th

*One thing that did help stall the change to gold was towards the end of May we experienced an entire 24-hour period of continuous rain. The rain was followed with normal warm weather, and the grasses began to continue to change golden.

MAY 22th

*Major changes in the landscape are visible. The color of the grass has changed significantly. Another difference between the changes is the Yucca plants. They look the same both in April and early May but once the rainfall you can see 2 plants in bloom. This is not good news for those of allergies, for the pleasant smell of the Yucca plants cause serious problems for people allergic to them.
