Design Village
Seasons Change

From April to June, the landscape of the Design Village is transformed from a lush, green valley to a dry, and dusty place. The following pictures were taken during the spring months and show the seasonal transition of the land.

April 24, 2005

These pictures were taken on a hike in the beginning of the spring. After a rainy March, the hills were blanketed with green grasses and shrubs. The natural springs in the design village were full of water and caused there to be a lot of slushy areas to navigate through!

"Spring is when you feel like whistling even with a shoe full of slush."

- Doug Larson

May 15, 2005

Although the grasses have begun to recede, wildflowers have started to bloom. A walk through the hills of the design village allowed us to view an abundance of wildflower varieties. The hills are still mostly green, but have lost the intensity that they had earlier in the spring. The green has been diluted by clusters of mustard plant.

June 1, 2005

By June, almost all of the grass has turned golden brown. The dust and pollen in the air has been turned up by the wind making a hike through the design village difficult for allergy sufferers. The landscape had undergone a drastic change since our first hike in April.
