Speckled Dace

Rhinichthys osculus, Cyprinidae

This fish reaches 4 inches long. The speckled dace is a long, rounded fish with a flattened belly. Its back is a dusky olive color. The sides of this fish are grayish green with a dark stripe and dark speckles or blotches. Its small, ventral mouth has no teeth. It has barbels, tts eyes are small, and the lateral line is complete. It has cycloid scales.
