A
Rope Swing Over Brizziolari Creek
While
in Poly Canyon, one may observe many lush and green areas.
These areas include both springs and creeks.
Springs
are defined as natural flows of water from the ground or from
rocks, representing an outlet for the water that has accumulated
in permeable rock strata underground. The natural springs
occuring in Poly Canyon feed the major watershed, Brizziolari
Creek. In general, a creek is defined as a stream, expecially
one that flows into a river.
Springs
and creeks are homes to many diverse plant and animal communities.
These areas are generally termed "riparian woodlands".
The term "riparian" refers to an organism that cannot
live without a constant source of water.
