Seep Monkeyflower

Mimulus guttatus, Scrophulariaceae

The seep, or common monkeyflower is usually a perennial. It is 2 to 40 inches tall and spreads by stolons. It is herbaceous and has fleshy, green, opposite, toothed, rounded-ovate leaves. It has bright yellow flowers with red spots in their hairy throats. The blooming period is March through September and the fruit comes in the form of an oval capsule. Seep monkeyflower is found along streambanks and wet places.
