Cooper's Hawk

Accipiter cooperi, Accipitridae

Similar to the sharp-shinned hawk, but larger overall and its tail is longer and more rounded. It is found mostly from mid-September through mid-April in riparian, chaparral, and broken woodlands. It inhabits streamside groves and may also be found perched on telephone poles.
