Cal Poly Soil and Water Resources
Presented by Dr. Del Dingus

The Lodo soil profile is more reddish in color than adjacent soils. Distinct horizons are not always seen due to the process of "pedoturbation" (mixing of soil) by gophers and ground moles. On gentle slopes the Lodo soil can be terraced and planted to tree crops of citrus and avacados. The soil erodes rapidly if disturbed or over grazed.
