Cal Poly Soil and Water Resources
Presented by Dr. Del Dingus

The Los Osos soil can be found on upland sites. It is an older soil that has master horizons of A, B, and C. The Los Osos soil formed from a sandstone parent material. The Los Osos soil is commonly covered with grassland vegetation and is excellent for grazing. Mixed with the soil are areas of shale outcrops that have developed into a black, high shrink-swell soil named Diablo.
