Pennington Hike

Coast Live Oak tree in Pennington Canyon

Pennington Ranch is set back in the hills and past the San Luis Obispo County Office of Education. The area is filled with wildlife such as turkey vultures and deer. The trail leads you back to the old Pennington Ranch homestead. Remnants of the sheep corral are still visible. At the grove of Olive trees there is a convergence of four tributaries.

Below is a map of the Pennington Ranch land.

Directions to Pennington Ranch:

  • Take Highway 1 toward Morro Bay.
  • Turn right on Education Way (located at the County Office of Education building, after Cuesta College)
  • Make a left at fork in the road.
  • Park before the first gate.
  • Trail from second gate, approximately one mile from first gate.
