During the 1940s, Cal Poly experienced an explosive growth in enrollment from 177 in 1933 to 7,740 by 1966. Such circumstances required the acquisition of a number of individual land parcels in order to keep pace with the increasing enrollment and to further the growth of the agricultural programs and learn-by-doing student projects.
