Cerro Vista

While Aaron and Stephanie were camped out at the Robert O'Neill lawn and the Performing Arts Center, I attempted to capture the sunset from the Cerro Vista apartments. As I parked my car along the hill and gazed out over the surrounding land, I was reminded of how blessed I am to go to school in a place of such natural beauty. The following are some of the images and reflections from this evening's sunset.

The Cerro Vista apartments were bathed in the soft, evening light. Life at the apartments was winding down for the day as students returned from their afternoon classes.

Last Chance

The last chance.
Orange and red dreams,
painted against a distant horizon.
The last rays.
The final hope of day.
Streaming golden rods
intensely fading,
fading to nothing.
Black.
Another opportunity lost,
lost in a sea of ebony and embers.
Wishes.
Shining paints illuminate.
Brighter still.
The promise of tomorrow.

Although some might argue that the thick blanket of clouds detracted from the beauty of the sunset, I believe they only augmented it. Here the sun begins to peak out from the fog bank.

The setting sun appeared to melt like butter into the horizon. Although it seemed to take a long time for it to emerge from the clouds, the sun passed between the fog bank and the hills much quicker than I expected.

Here is one last glimpse at the surrounding area and the apartments. Students at the Cerro Vista apartments are lucky to enjoy this majestic view every night of the week.
