WIND SPEED

 

Though for many, the winds in the San Luis Obispo County are more noticeable than the rest of California . Cal Poly has dramatically lower averages in wind speed than the rest of the United States . Cal Poly, peaking their windy season in late May, early June, peaks at an average of just over 8 miles per hour. The United States averages stands at a towering 10 miles per hour, at their peak in late March. In some areas of the country, the wind speeds average over 12 miles per hour during the late March peak. The Nation's average low, barely drops below Cal Poly's high, barely dropping below 8 miles per hour during the month of August. Cal Poly reaches their low at the end of September and early October, dipping below 6 miles per hour for an average wind speed.
