The amount of sunshine that Cal Poly obtains skyrockets above the United States average. With a peak of 95% sunshine in July, it towers over the 70% peak nationwide. As well as the tremendous number of sunny days in July, Cal Poly also remains about 80% sunshine or better 7 months out of the year, while 7 months out of the year, the United States average stays at merely 60%. Only in December and January does Cal Poly drop below the national average, at a low of 45%, almost 5% below the national average.
