Landscape @ Cal Poly

College of Architectural and Environmental Design

(CAED Experimental Land)

The CAED Land in Poly Canyon has also shown some dramatic changes in coloring in spring time.

April 22nd

One can see how long the grass has grown, how golden it has turned and the wild flowers and weeds have begun to sprout. Some of the similarities visible are the trees which remain the dark green color. Rockslide ridge in the background has no changes visible from the rain erosion we have experienced either.

May 26th

Differences on the other hand are numerous. The grasses have grown considerably, as well as the blooming of the yellow wildflowers closer in the foreground. A very noticible change is the weather. The weather in the first picture had very little light, as that was the time when we had rain for days at a time. The second picture does Cal Poly weather justice. Clear blue skies is something which we should have been seeing here since our return from spring break.
