The gray fox is 14 to 15 inches high at the shoulder and weighs
between 7 and 13 pounds. It is grizzled gray above and reddish
below and on the back of the head. It has a white throat. Its
tail is black above and at the tip. It has rusty-colored feet.
It is a solitary animal. It is active yearlong, especially during
crepuscular and nocturnal hours. It is occasionally diurnal
and occupies meadows and scrubland, riparian, and woodland communities.
