Quercus agrifolia, Fagaceae

This is a 20- to 82-foot evergreen monoecious tree. It can be extremely long-lived (usually more than 250 years, even 600). It has 1 to 2 1/2-inch leathery, spiny-toothed, ovate, dull green leaves. The upper surface of the leaves is convex. Blooms appear from March through April.
