The
Arboreal Salamander is a climber that is most likely to be found
under loose tree bark found along the moist areas of coastal
California. Specifically, these salamanders are commonly found
in such Cal Poly Land creek locations as Brizzolari Creek or
Stenner Creek.Arboreal Salamanders are in the or Lungless salamander
family. They range from 2 1/4 to 4 inches long. They are dark
brown with white or yellow specks and a white belly. They have
a triangular shaped head due to their enlarged jaw muscles.
Their toes also have noticably squared tips that help them in
climbing. These salamanders eat mostly fungus and are nocturnal.
The Arboreal Salamander is typically found during the fall and
spring seasons.
