A few years ago, I had the opportunity to take an independent study course where I taught eight first graders about physics. The first topic I chose was polarity and I brought in some Styrofoam balls and toothpicks and the kids put together water molecules. Just before the lesson time was over, I asked them what they wanted to learn about and, throughout the semester and from their questions, the kids learned about waves, matter, the planets, and even quantum leaps. There was nothing like sharing my love for science with them! By March, I should have BA in Physics and, in addition to maybe grad school or getting a job where I can work outdoors, I would like to help create science curriculum and work with kids of all ages.
