Getting Involved with CSI

(Courtesy of the CSI website)

The Vision of CSI is to find the most environmentally and fiscally beneficial ways to use Cal Poly’s scarce resources and to develop and support campus guidelines that are to be followed at all times, within practical and economical means. It is their intention that with the University’s polytechnic emphasis, Cal Poly will play a leadership role in California’s sustainability movement. This will be achieved through practicing sustainable development and instilling sustainable values in their graduates, employees, and throughout the campus in teaching, operations, and research.

CSI meetings at 10:00 every Friday in BLD 10 room 207

Getting Involved with Student Community Services

SCS has 12 groups that serve the community and Cal Poly. Environmental Council plays an important part in the preservation of Cal Poly's land. Environmental Council serves the community through efforts to educate and promote awareness about the natural environment and the issues surrounding it. Activities include beach clean-ups, tree plantings, earth day, and an Environmental Resource Fair.

Getting Involved With Cal Poly Campus Sustainablity Club

These are sustainability projects that Cal Poly students have done in the past. It was taken from the Cal Poly Campus Sustainability website. This organization has conducted several projects in order to conserve energy and benefit the environment. They have developed ideas to reduce air pollution through human powered vehicles and a solar powered car.

Cal Poly Human Powered Vehicle and a Solar Powered Car

Efforts which reflect sustainable thinking can be seen in many areas of Cal Poly, from increasing our energy efficiency, to exploring environmentally friendly building and farming. This club provides opportunities to explore these issues through many student activities, classes, and projects being carried out by our professors. It is necessary that there be some sort of forum to discuss how these different projects all relate to Cal Poly as a sustainable system. That idea was the the basis of a research paper to explore the possibility, and this website is intended to generate further interest in cross curricular communication at Cal Poly.
