Buy It If: You want budget brakes.
Tektro brakes are most commonly found on low- to mid-range bikes. The reason is simple--they're decent brakes and a heck of a deal. As one of the most affordable linear-pull aftermarket brakes on the market, Tektro's MT 10s aren't particularly sexy and you won't impress anyone with them, but they're ideally suited to anyone itching to upgrade to linear-pull brakes on a shoestring budget.
Stainless steel hardware and top-notch Kool Stop pads are included, and when adjusted properly, it's tough to tell the difference between these and low- to mid-range Shimano brakes for around-town cruising and light trail riding. Push them to the limit and you'll still stop, but the seemingly minor amounts of slop on the brake bosses and slight flex in the forged aluminum arms compromises modulation and invites future maintenance issues. Get 'em if you're strapped for cash and looking to ditch your outdated cantilevers or need an affordable set of replacement brakes, but aggressive, hardcore riders will still benefit from spending more.
