We Do Bees: BEE Prepared!

The best way to prevent bees from establishing a colony on your property is to utilize the following "bee proofing" suggestions, as recommended by the Texas A&M University Department of Entomology.

  • Remove possible nesting sites from around your house and yard.
  • Examine the outside walls of your house to make sure bees are not nesting.
  • Seal any cracks in the walls, in the foundation, or in the roof.
  • Fill any openings bigger than 1/8" in the walls.
  • Install small screens over openings such as chimneys, rain spouts, and vent.
  • Remove any trash that the bees might use as shelter for a nesting ground.
  • Make sure window screens are secure.
