The Tensile Structure:

This structure is the newest in Poly Canyon. It was the designed, engineered and built by three students of the architecture, landscape architecture and architectural engineering program. All shop drawings and calcualtions were done by the students. It was erected in 2002 at a cost of around $20,000. Its primary function is to provide a sheltered environment for visitors and students at the annual design village held in the canyon every year. The 12 footings that hold the cables taut are all connected underground to provide strength and stability.
