The Bridge House:
The Bridge House was built during 1965-1968, by faculty Thomas
Palmer and Larry P. Stricker with advisor Paul Neel. When completed,
it was awarded the American Institute of Steel Construction’s
Award of Excellence. Cor-tin steel was used on the structure that
is meant to rust on the surface to a certain point, forming a
protective barrier that reinforces the building. This is why you
will never see the frame painted. The solar bronze glass was installed
to reflect prominent light and heat on the wall oriented toward
the southern sun. Water bags were also installed on the roof to
keep heat inside the structure when covered and to pull hot air
out of the house when left uncovered.
